Easier? crossbow or compound hunting

wow i must be in the minority....i find using my crossbow harder then my compound....if i had a choice on what to use, the compound would be going out more with me....the crossbow is harder to carry ready for a shot while stalking, cant be used in a trestand as easy as a compound....maybe it's just me.................bob

I love my compound for its maneuverability and light weight. I have yet to take an animal with it, but it does have some definite advantages over a crossbow in thick cover. Trees don't grow sideways .

On the other hand I love the crossbow for ground hunting. I have set up many times with my back to a tree and can rest the crossbow on my knee to balance it for a shot.

They both have advantages and disadvantages, and that's why I love both!

i would say crossbow is not as hard. i have shot lots with both and your chance of getting busted by a deer are a lot greater when you have to draw the bow.distance does not apply when i hunt i try to keep all shots close.have also had to let the bow down from full draw when they hangup on you and don't step into that shooting lane

I voted easier. I cant draw my compound anymore so I moved to the vortex. The compound has some advantages, but the crossbow is more accurate with less practice. I hunt from tree stands and learned to deal with the width of a crossbow and love to get deer in the scope without getting busted drawing my bow back.

Not sure yet. I've hunted with a compound thru this past season. In the process of purchasing an Exocet for next season. Some of my reasons...one is I can hunt with it now, living in Pa. But some other reasons are I am getting a little older and like to hunt from a treestand. When I hunt from a treestand with a compound, I will stand up when I see deer approaching to be prepared for the shot. The age factor causes this to be a little more difficult....epecially in cold weather after I have been on stand a couple hours. I think a crossbow, I would be able to remain seated. Most importantly. With a compound I need to be able to draw the bow, and possibly hold at full draw for a period of time until the deer presents a good shot. Cold and old, make this increasingly more difficult to execute a good kill shot. I think with a crossbow, this is not an issue. I love my compound and will still hunt with it, but I was thinking it just might be time for a change.
