STS bumper and string placement

Post by Q10 »

Should the string be resting on the STS bumpers? My string was resting between the two alignment arrows before I put the STS bumpers on...now the string is resting on the bumpers. The string is now sitting at the top alignment arrow...and it rests on the bumper...

Do the bumpers need to be cut or should the string be resting on them? I thought there should be a small gap between the bumper and the string...

Please help.

I don't have that set-up but ithink the strings justs rests against the bumpers. If too much pressure by string is on they will cut into bumpers quickly

I had the same problem with mine and I sent it back. Some members advised me to set the brace height of the string back to accommodate the bumpers and others advised me to cut the rods to get the brace height I wanted. I didnt want to do either of that and I bought a NGSS stopper off the trading post because you can adjust the bumpers to the string where you want it. As far as distance between string and bumpers I read that the string should be just barely touching the stoppers.

Some guys have it bassackwards.
Set your brace height to where you want it first, then cut your rods a bit too short. Insert the rods and bumpers with a toothpick between the bumpers and the string. Tighten the set screw and you now have it all set. K.I.S.S.

Gentlemen...thank you very much. I am off to cut the rods with the dremel. The set screw is advantageous since you can cut the rods a bit shorter and use the set screw to adjust the height...I believe this is what Boo said.

Much appreciate gents and thanks for the speedy replies.

Q10 take a look at undertakers setup it is one of the best I have seen. He is doing some neat things with his stoppers and even insulated the mounts from the riser.

I do exactly the same a Boo. I have yet to blow a bumper on any of my bows. This after many, many shots.
I odered extra bumpers for all of them and still havn't needed one. With Exomax or Equinox or Exomag.
