Turk down

Post by rt2bowhunter »

It was a cool rainy morning.A flock of geese flew over before day light. That woke several gobblers up. They were on posted land about 200yds away. So i set up on are place and called. They never said another word. Around 8:00 a jake walked about 5 foot beside me. Milled around for maybe 5 min and went back the way he came. Will thinking there not going to gobble. I started calling real soft every 15min. At 9:30 there was a gobbler to my left at 10yds. Looking me in the face. Below him were 5 more 2 nice birds and 4 Jakes. One of the large birds gave me a shot at 20yds. But with the first bird still looking at me i could not move. The next thing i hear is put put put.
And back around the hill they go. I called real soft one of the jakes stopped.
I called again he started walking back but down over the hill. The big gobbler must have seen him. He came back an ran the jake up the hill to me.He gave me a 20yd shot the arrow hit center of his back and came out to the left of his beard. He flopped down hill 10yds. The arrow was a GT 4" QS NAP Gobblergetters. He has a 10" beard and 1 1/8" spurs.
