FULL MOON BIRDS

Post by MADMAX2 »

Went out and had a jake and a tom come in to my setup this morning.Very cool watching them fly down from a huge oak tree with the full moon in the background.

The jake came in to my set up first so I took him.My brother hunted in another county and shot a beauty 22.5lb bird both taken with shotguns now it's Excal time!! :D Image

This might sound stupid, but the only question that is stupid is the question that doesn't get asked. I have never hunted turkey as of yet. We do not have turkey in Nova Scotia, wish we did. How can you tell a Jake from a Tom? Depending on how my health is next spring I may be hunting for my first turkey. A friend from this forum has asked me to come and hunt my first turkey. And oh boy that does excite me. If I can recover from my illnesses I am planning to go. Thanks Terry, aka Munch, I really hope I can recover.
Thank,
Raymond

there's a couple different ways to tell a jake from a tom,but if you're in the field and looking at them without binos, the jake usually has a stub for a beard,up close his spurs, tail feathers, and wing feathers
