Exocet string pressure question

Post by Mister B »

Just got my new Exocet 200 and love it...very accurate. I have a question.
My string bends noticabaly over the rail causing excessive wear on the serving. Is there any way to raise the string so it just touches for rides a tiny bit above the rail, or is it common with Excaliburs for the string to press down hard on the rail? I removed the bow from the stock, checked it carefully and returned it and turned the bolts down as tight as I could. Thanks.

Yep, there is a fair amount of string/deck pressure.

When you think about it, there isn't much room for tolerance at the back end of your arrow.

The string must contact the back of each your arrows EXACTLY the same way, time after time. Otherwise, you could have arrows that the force of the string firing could tilt somewhat upwards, and others possibly tilt somewhat downwards. That would result in diminished accuracy and penetration as well. An arrow flying in a "tilted" manner is meeting increased air resistance and when (if) it hits the target, has a harder time penetrating than if it were hitting in a true "point first' manner.

The string has to ride hard on the riser in order to assure consistency.

It also reduces noise quite a lot.
