EXOMAX input
Well fellas they have finally legalized crossbow for NC (its about time!!). I went ahead a ordered an EXOMAX crossbow based on the speed aspects of the bow. What I failed to notice was the string life factor. Does anyone shoot an EXOMAX, if so, how many shots will I get out of the original string and are there any precautions I can take to add to its life? Also, what is the opinions of the aftermarket strings?

Re: EXOMAX input
Love my Exomax! I just got mine this year and I'm still on my first string, no problems. Don't wax the deck! I have shot my box maybe 50 shots so far and no serving wear. I also haven't waxed the serving yet and I'm showing now signs of wear on the serving either. I've heard mixed results on string life on this bow, but so far I'm happy with it. I'm no expert of course.

awshucks had one fer a couple of yrs. I would shoot it when i went down to visit him in Ark. I don't knowed how many shots on avg. before the serving starts separating some short as 50 shots others 60 to 70 shots others get 100 plus. Just reserve string with good serving material
Re: EXOMAX input
The strings with black servings tend to last much longer.

X2 . . . the black material will last at least twice as long as the gray/tan servings.Boo wrote:The strings with black servings tend to last much longer.
On the servings I do, I average about 100 shots if I don't wax the serving. When I wax every 20-25 shots, I average around 280 shots. I have gotten almost 500 shots on a Boo serving waxing every 20-25 shots.
Keep the rail slick and clean. I use car wax on the rail about once every six months.

Re: EXOMAX input
My 1st Excal was an Emax, I was going through a string a week [didn't reserve]. Boo strings changed that, but by the time they came around I had a serving jig and tool. I decided the Ecet suited my needs better.
Either get set up to reserve or get some extra strings and have someone do them for you. It's all good! Strings are about $14 a pop from Danny Miller, btw.

What would a custom string cost for the exomax and would it void the factory warraty? What are the opinions on cat whiskers to help quiet it down?

Re: EXOMAX input
I tried them and IMO I think they suck. The blades are held in place by an o ring at the blade's end an mine would come loose when the arrow was pulled from the quiver. I'm going to try these bad boys this season. http://www.g5outdoors.com/#sec_t3Big Pard wrote:Has anyone used RAGE expandables on their crossbows?

Yes . . .the Rage broadhead is used by several of the forum members. It ranks as the most kills by an expandable broadhead used by the members on this forum. The only con that I'm aware(as Boo said) , you need to make sure the O-ring is firmly seated.Big Pard wrote:Has anyone used RAGE expandables on their crossbows?

The fixed blade with the highest number of kills by this forum's members is the Slick Trick broadhead.
