Built some new bolts today.

Post by FredBear »

I replaced the front inserts with brass, and the rears with Lumi nocks. Then I put my new bitzenburger to the test. I'm very please with it :D

Wow! Some really nice looking arrows you have there. Been using a Bitz for literally decades, RW helical, and have not found the need or desire for any other jig.

I used a vise, a field point, and a small torch :)

I hadn't tried the method, but, I was told to put a piece of metal(maybe a drill bit, something that fits) in the open end. Then sling it toward the nock end. Kind of like hammering from the inside. Of course, that means you already have the insert out.

Make sure you are "throwing" it in a safe direction . . .otherwise, when it comes out, it goes for a ride.
I'd rather wear out than rust out.

I have never heard that one! I dont know how well it would work, but it would be worth a try. When using the torch you have to keep the flame at a 90 degree angle to the bolt, and only on the field tip. After a few second you just twist the bolt right off the insert. Your done just like that!
