final days in the countdown

Post by wabi »

The final couple of weeks finds me checking off the items on my mental checklist to be sure everything is ready for the big day. Opener here is Saturday - September 25 this year.

I got online today and went to the ODNR website to purchase the additional tags I'll need and ended up watching videos the DNR team produces.

Watched one I bookmarked for when I get my first deer this fall!

I know a lot of hunters (like me) feel compelled by tradition to actually cook and eat those tough old "mud veins" (aka tenderloin) from the deer, and this video suggests a new method of cooking I will try!

BTW - I DO label the package(s) of tenderloin MUD VEIN when I process the deer in my buddy's processing shop. Keeps the wife from sorting through the packages and grabbing all the tenderloin as soon as I get the meat home.

Nice of Ohio to not only let us kill plenty of deer, but also suggest cooking recipes!

It's coming soon. I got 8 more stands up last week, if I can match that this week I might get a week to relax! :D
