ARROW POI ISSUE?

Post by tmberghst »

I have 4 20'' new gt shafts fletched with blazers, brass inserts, alum nocks, and 100 gr field tips.Every arrow will hit in the exact hole as the shot before with the same arrow, but none of the 4 hit in the same spot, about 11/4 inch group.I have the fletchings set with all the degree on the shaft I can get and still have the base of the fletching in full contact on the shaft.Do I have to much degree on the fletching or maybe something else is up???Any body else have this problem?

If you built them yourself you can shrink that group by matching your components by weight. A scale assists me to match my built arrows within +/- 2 grains of each other, which will generally shrink groups.

We are a spoiled group. :D

I concur with Norm. Match the weights. The other thing might be the arrow straightness or the balance. Too much glue on one side . . .stuff like that. Place them on a spinner, turn each vane up and see if they want to spin or if they will stay in place.

All the shaft components and shafts came from wyvern, should i have weighed the inserts, nocks shafts, fletching before building them and then do a spin test.Maybe also weigh the built shaft when I am done assembling them? THANKS EVERYONE

Match the weights? I once got into a whizzing contest w/ a guy on another forum, he was claiming a 6" diff in poi at 20 yds due to mixing 100 gr and 125 gr field points.

I had beau coup 100's and two 125's off some Bnett junk. I benched the xbow, checked 20 [right on] then shot both weight arrows at 30. 25 gr diff. The shafts were touching repeatedly.

I honestly can't recall if the bow was my Emax or Y-25, but doubt that matters.

YMMV.

I'm thinking that if that group is at 20yds. I'm good! I just hunt though, I'm not a competition shooter so maybe that matters in that venue.

Hey guys what is a spinner , can I make my own , will go down to my shop after supper and weigh each arrow , nock and inserts are set with a hard hot melt glue, vanes attached with loctite super glue professional -non gel.Awshucks- setup was 20 yrds, sand bags, excalibur crosshair scope,no wind. All 4 shafts will hit in the exact hole as that same shaft hit the shot before. My group is probably better than I think as three hit awful close together, but the one I used to set the scope is the one that hits the fartherest out of the 4 .
