That would have been interesting to see.

I have heard about bears going after calfs but never after full size healthy cows!

The bear looked healthy and not desperate for food enough to try and take on something that much larger than himself.

Thanks for sharing this story with us :D

Great pictures nonetheless, but a quick Google search shows that this MAY have happened in Oregon not Sask. Not saying it's true, but typical email miscommunications if so!

Here's the Google Search:

http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&sourc ... =&gs_rfai=

The first hits are actually videos that I can't see right now so I don't know if its the same one or not.

And the one website mentioning Oregon!

Do you know why they are a bit testy. Cause the just realised how stunned they look !! :).

I have spent some time in the Melfort area. Real nice, forest fringe area. A small but real nice Regional Park. Kipabisca Lake. A real hidden gem. Good walleye and the odd bear. Interupted a beaver that was about to lay a tree across my boat.

Bovine Bear Bashing.
Regardless of where it came from its neat to see cows lay a beating on a predator. That bear will likely think twice before going after a calf again!

Scott I think it worked better than a "bear Banger".

With my knowledge of Bovines, from working on my uncles ranch. Momma Cows with calves at heel are very protective. Espically one's that have had limited contact with people.

Cows are familier with the people who work them, but if you are a stranger, look out. Bulls are another story, Some are just plain mean, I have had to drive a tractor between a bull and my cousin. I have seen them clear a 6 foot fence.

A friend of ours was working on a family dairy, she just about got stomped to death my a Holstien bull.

This is a good reason to get permission to hunt rural property.

There are places to avoid.
