Great crop of acorns

Post by DuckHunt »

I've noticed in numerous locations around here that we have an awesome acorn crop this year. It's the best I have seen in at least 10 years.

That probably explains why I'm seeing so many deer in the woods even though there are corn and soybean fields nearby. All of the deer are staying in the woods.

Now if only a big buck would stroll by before these wind gusts blow everything away. :)

Good acorn crop and dry ground here. Makes a lot of crunching when you walk under an oak.
I was in my ladder stand yesterday evening (set it against a red oak) and the acorns were hitting the rain cover and sounded like someone beating a drum!

My game cam at the feeder was getting over 200 pics (100 triggers) a night before the acorns started falling. Now it's more like 20 pics a night. Guess deer, turkeys, coon, and squirrels prefer acorns to corn!

Our place in West Central Michigan, the Acorns are so heavy this year that the Clover and Rape Fields are second choice to the Deer. This has put a damper on shooting chances.
