Broadhead removal

I was out shooting my compound and a Vortex at the homestead today to keep sharp. I've been using G5's T3 mechanical broadheads and although I am not thrilled by their consistency I was shooting with their practice blades which hover a bit more than 2.5" at 30 yards so the occasional shot at the same spot hasn't resulted in any damaged heads. Well I had a senior's moment and screwed on 2 Striker broadheads and shot at the same spot. These Strikers are the most accurate head I've ever shot! So the dumb move ended up in a robinhood and a broadhead in my Reinhart 18-1 target. So the question begs, how do I get this sucker out without cutting up the target?

thats a good question i lost my broadhead and insert today in my reinhart 18-1,dug around a little with needle nose and a screw driver couldnt even feel any thing solid! i used duct tape and wrote dont shoot this side,cause i know i would find it next session.only hope its not more than half way through

Boy, you are having a bad day At 30 yards that head is in their deep. I would poke around a bit like beish said with a extra long pick tool, but without an x ray machine it going to be tough!

I'm shooting the 100gr and stock fire bolts with the same POI as my field tips.

As for getting them out, this is just an idea that came to me. If you have a wife that crotchets or knits see if she has an "old" crotchet hook or knitting needle with a hook end. The thinner and longer the better. You may be able to slide it into the target along the same channel that the blade took. With any luck it should hook the blade where it is cut out thus allowing you to work the broadhead out. I'm sure others reading this may get other ideas too. Good luck Boo.

I've done similar stunts in the past.
I had a foam broadhead target from Cabela's that was great! (no longer available)
I ended up with 2 G-5 Small game heads and one Montec broadhead in that target!

Simple solution - wait a few years until the target is trash then carefully tear it apart and recover what's left of the heads. I did recover one small game head that was still usable.

Ok, here's the kicker. I had 2 of my springers with me and one of them ranges too far at times. So! I had my bird dog whistle on and man oh man! You should see the welt on my neck! It took me a couple of seconds to figure out what happened. It goes on the list called "I won't do that again!"

If you have something about the same diameter and long enough, maybe a piece of brake line, you could probe in the target and push the broadhead on through.
As for the dog whistle on the lanyard, that could happen with a grunt call too!

Well i am sorry to inform you that the only safe way to remove the BH from target is using a 3" coreborer Just send the target to me its of no more use to you. I will fix iyt & use it

If you can find a piece of pipe that has an ID that is a little bigger than the insert you should be able to push it through.

Well hats off to Strider! I got it out by taking using a long screwdriver to find it and to indicate the depth. I then took a length of coat hanger and pushed down to find it and while pushing down I twisted the wire so it would slide beside it and hook into it. Pulling it out was a pig! I twisted the other end of the wire around a pair of pliers and stood on the target to get it out!

The way I was yanking it's a wonder that I didn't get sliced! When the broadhead came out between my stocking feet my eyes bugged out!
