Well friends it has been a long season for me. Have spent over 300 hrs in a tree since Oct 1. This time last year I had 6 deer in freezer with a heck of a lot less time in the stand. Yesterday was the first day of shotgun season here in Illinois. I hunted Wednesday and took a yearling doe with my Exocet. She had a button another deer with her. Yesterday I was in the stand before daylight and didn't see a deer until 4:00PM. I raised my shotgun to my shoulder and dropped a button buck in its tracks. I think it was the brother of the doe. I cannot hunt to day as have to butcher 2 deer. I only have Sunday(Shotgun) and Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday(bow) left of my season and still have a Shotgun either sex tag and a buck and doe Crossbow tags. I hope to fill both as the deer are really moving here now as the rut has finally started. I have to travel to Springfield, IL on Thanksgiving day so will be there to go in Hospital at 6:00 AM Friday morning for reconstructive hip surgery on Wednesday will end my deer hunting for the year. DR. says I will have to keep weight off that leg for 6 to 10 weeks as this will be the third time to have surgery on this hip in the last 13 years. No Physical Therapy until recovery period is over. I am looking at 4 to 6 months Physical Therapy(pain and torture). Hopefully all will go well and I will be back on the water fishing in Spring and in the woods next Oct with my trusty Exocet. Wish me luck with filling my tags and the surgery. I will have my laptop at the Hospital so will keep up with all the success of fellow members and I wish luck to all that have tags to fill.
