Bow holder for treestand?

Post by Mark S »

Hey everyone, I'm wondering from the people that hunt with a treestand, what type of bow holder you use, if you use one. I don't think the one that I use for my compound bow will work, so I am curious what others do.

I'm sure I will be holding the bow most of the time like I do with my compound, but there are times that you just need to set it down to do something.

A buddy showed me a trick where in the odd event I put it down I just undo the top sling mount, go through the front bar and reconnect the sling. Bow hangs fine like that, you can also lift the bow and shoot it from there.
Prior to that I used the strap that came with a cheap harness, go around the tree at any level, and have a hook on there, that way it always comes with me in the pocket on my Viper.
Experience has taught me the best way to have a deer in shooting distance is to set the bow down. :D

i use the e-z hanger by realtree, screw it in the tree just above your head, while standing up.it pivots in the middle, left or right,or straight out.x-bow is always handy either standing or seting.sort of breaks up your outline while hanging in front, easy to get to. happy thanksgiving----morton

I use a screw-in step wrapped with tape to silence it.
Don't trust the little lightweight "accessory" hangers.
(I've snapped a couple of them off screwing them in/out of a tree, figure if they're that fragile I don't want to hang an expensive crossbow on them.)

I use a piece of 10 gauge solid electric wire around the tree at eye level. The ends are twisted togehter in a hook. I hang the bow by he foot stirup. I loosen the twist at the end of the hunting season.
