Went out this morning to see if I could find some open water for ducks. There is a usual pond where I see ducks pitching in, but it had a skim of ice on it. I decided to open it up with my waders on and sat for a while with no luck.
On the way out I came across a real good 8pt that had been dead in the standing water for at least a few weeks. Looked like he was shot in the hind quarters, because one of his back legs was broken at the hip. Either that or a car incident.
He had some real good mass and mesured 21 Inches for an inside spread. Too bad he had to go out like that.

Would make a great euro mount . . .did you bring it home?
I'd rather wear out than rust out.

I did manage to save the antlers. Had to get creative with my shotgun at close range to "cut" them off. Not the easiest way to do it, but I do love to shoot my guns .
