"Live From The Stand"

Post by TYE »

I came across a sticky on another forum called "Live From the Stand". I thought it was cool to read and see what other hunters were encountering live. With smart phones it makes this a lot easier. You can post pics or just updates on weather, what you are seeing, or not, anything as long as it is live. I thought maybe we could try it here also. Even if it is late in the season.

I'd love to see other peoples pictures or short journal entries from each hunt.

Saturday the 4th of December. Saw nothing but a big dark thing with a bushy tail. Too far to get a clear picture of it with my iPhone. Had no idea what it was. Possibly a fisher. Some light snow falling and arrive to my stand to sit on a frozen seat and get a wet arse.

No pictures of any critters but here is the view fromy stand. Should be from left to right...

Our local TV weatherman is a bow hunter and he hunts the farm across the road from me. He calls into the local morning radio show and is on the air giving his weather report from his stand and giving a play by play of the hunting as well. Kinda neat. Gary

It's a nice spot I shot my first buck with the shotgun there 2 seasons ago. Haven't had any give me a shot with the bow yet though.

There is no sign there right now so were gonna hunt the other side of the property for the rest of the season, where we found tons of sign.

I love hunting out there but unfortunately the owners are thinking of selling the farm so we might have to find a new place to hunt if they do. :(

It's about a 25 minute drive from home.

Yeah I wish I had the money to.

It's hard to get permission at good properties near Peterborough. Anyone willing to share? :-/

I hope for your sake if the property sells, the new owner will allow you to continue hunting there.

I hope so too. I'm still waiting for the 15 pointer from 2 years ago to give me another shot opportunity. I've seen him a few times. One time he was 10 yards behind my stand in that thick stuff but wouldn't come into an opening to present me a shot.

We hunt on 143 acres that are for sale. Owners tell people interested in buying it that we hunt there and wishs that to stay as it is. But you never know when someone buys it and has family members that hunt.
