Deer can eat a bit of moldy corn but it would be better if mixed with some fresher stuff. I owned a feed mill with my father for 15 years and cattle could eat limited amount, horses also but got the "heaves" or a cough from the dust and pigs (sows) could abort babies if mould was fusarium. They can take it but not in large doses. The other thing is to spread it around and not just in one spot.

Bunch of deer were said to have been killed by eating (unpicked) corn that had mold hereabouts last fall. No doubt the kind of mold it is makes a difference.e.g. Ergot can cause miscarriage.

I here it is not healthy to feed deer corn in the winter is this true? I heard deer have been found dead with full bellys of corn. I read this in a popular mag and also heard this on many hunting shows. Your thoughts?
