IDNR/NRC now taking input on crossbows..

Post by Woody Williams »

Hoosiers....

The Indiana Natural Resources Commission last Tuesday approved preliminary adoption of DNR recommended rule changes for deer hunting.

You may now give input on this proposal to the NRC at -

http://www.in.gov/nrc/2377.htm

It is under the Deer Amendments..

Do it today....

Here are all the links I could find pertaining to the new deer proposal

The “Checklist for rule adoption is that at –

http://www.in.gov/nrc/files/NRC_Checklist.pdf

Now for the input portion -

It states -

Public Comment on Proposed Rule Amendments

The Natural Resources Commission adopted nonrule policy document, Information Bulletin #55. The primary purpose of this bulletin is to encourage consistency, transparency and efficiency in the development of hearing officer reports by employees of the Division of Hearings to the Natural Resources Commission. Information Bulletin #55 clarifies thatcitizens must identify themselves when filing comments in order for those comments to be included in a report or to be considered by a hearing officer in an analysis. The nonrule policy document also clarifies that public comments will be accepted through the comment form on this page, sent to the Commission by regular mail, or if approved by the Commission, by telephone.

IMPORTANT - If you do not identify yourself your comments will not be included.

The Deer (white-tailed) Amendments – Click on to Comment on this rule -

This page will look different that the previous comment page. It even has a Security code so that mass emails can not be sent via a bot..

Be sure and fill the form out completely paying strict attention to the fields that have an asterisk * by them. Those are REQUIRED fields.

Since the deer proposals is mult-facetted I try to comment on each item. Thus the NRC does not have to sort through each piece of input to get to the emat f the matter. Comment as much as you want and as often as you want.

Thanks,

WW

Yes, that is a given. RC will lose his fight because of the way he carries himself.

They will all lose soemday. Time and good data is on our side. Their side is all emotion..

Woody
I am a new guy without a crossbow. I live in Indiana and have contacted the dnr and they have emailed me back thanking me for my comments.

I plan to join the ranks of the excalibur owners as soon as I can make up my mind which model to purchase. I am at exocet one day and pheonix the next... I need to quit reading and buy one!

I have been reading crossbow forums for 2 months... I am thinking of buying them both just to put me out of my misery...

I have the Matthews Outback and love to hunt the whitetail...

I do support the crossbow use during the whole archery season as well

have a great day...

Consider this report from Wisconsin DNR

http://www.jsonline.com/news/wisconsin/111085384.html

Total deer gun kill increased 11% over 2009

Buck gun kill increased 17% over 2009

the figures will increase even more after bow figures come in

All this after several years of criticism from hunters directed at the DNR over perceived mismanagement of the herd.

I will not get my hopes up on what happens with Indiana DNR till I see it happen, and I have heard these rule changes are only temporary and good for a year or two. I will find out the real scoop in the middle of Feb. when I am around a bunch of them for 10 days during the Indy Boat, Sport & Travel Show and will report back the real dirt and findings. Promise. Its never over till the fat lady sings ever with Indiana DNR being so political anymore on management of our deer and hunting initiatives. :x

Unfortunately you are quite correct.

The latest proposal is for a five year trial although I do not see anything in the proposal that states that. Just what the F & W director said. Not to worry, five years worth of crossbow hunting will get the point acrss. IF this is adopted they will not go back.

Please do give your input to the NRC at.........

.....and keeps us informed on what you find out..

I am still getting my handicap permit just in case Indiana DNR doesn't pass the new laws. Anybody that can get a Doc to sign the application gets a handicap permit to hunt with crossbow as long as the permit application is filled out properly. They don't have the time or manpower to check the validity of them nor do they really care as I know a bunch of people that already are hunting with crossbows. And I do have a slipped disc, and tendoitis as arthritis in both elbows from shooting bows as long as I have. Tournament archey has taken its toll on my arms and shoulders from shooting so much.
