Exocet 200 FPS Question

Post by perrym »

I just purchased an Exocet 200 and am so delighted with it I can't stand it. Anyway, I was shooting this morning and decided to shoot some
bolts through the chrono. The best I can do is 301 FPS. I'm not complaining, but thought I should get between 310 and 315 FPS. I'm shooting
the Excel string with 20" Firebolts with 150 Gr. field points. The only thing I have done to the bow since I purchased it was to install the Excalibur STS
anti-vibration/noise system. Could that be the issue? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

May lose a tiny bit from STS because it may stop the string a little shorter. More likely the string and arrow weight. This posted on website.

Velocity: 330 FPS
Draw Weight: 200 lbs.
Power Stroke: 15.5"
Mass Weight: 6.4 lbs.
Overall Length: 38.5"
Arrow Length: 20"
Arrow Weight: 350 Grains
Stock Type: Traditional
Finish: Realtree Hardwoods HD

Arrow speeds obtained using 350 grain arrow and optional 1989 Flemish Dyna Flight String

You should take off STS and try it through chrono and let us know if it losses any speed. I would like to know that also.

Wheelie, thanks for the reply.
I just removed the STS from the crossbow and fired three bolts. The first one was 300, and the second and third was 301 FPS. No difference in speed, but I will tell you that the STS system really dampens the sound and vibration. I could not believe the difference with the system removed. I am going to reinstall it ASAP.

My Exocet 200 is shooting right around the 310 - 315 mark using 2216's with 2 inch blazers and a 100 grain point . The string is set just below the center line for brace height .

String stoppers wont affect speed.
The advertised 315 FPS is using a light arrow and a FFF string. You are more than likely using a Dacron string and a slightly heavier arrow.
My Exocet has a fast string and a heavy arrow, leaving me with a consistent 300 FPS, right where I like it.
Everything is just fine, happy shooting.

X2, corrected the speed typo, Pyp. If you are after a min weight arrow, one way to get there according to my data is a reg Gt LII w/ alum insert vs brass and 125 gr points.

The suppression system is amazing. If you remove it and hear the difference you will definitely want it back on the crossbow.

Take Care.

I have GT Laser IIs with wraps, blazers, aluminum flat nocks, brass inserts and 100 grain tips.

My failing memory....ugh....I think they weigh in at like 435gr

Chrono'd my Exocet 200 last summer. With a FF string and brace height set in the middle I got a 5 shot average of
306fps.

I am not going to do the research lol....whats a 20" Firebolt with a 150gr tip weigh?

301fps sounds impressive.

My Firebolts with 2' Blazers weight 254gr. That makes for a 404 gr total weight w/150gr tip.The Firebolts with 4" vanes and all of Easton's" excess glue"!! weighs 265gr. With 150gr Boltcutter ( 414 gr)

The setup that am quite pleased with is my Firebolts w/2" Blazers and 125gr tip (125gr Vortex Broadhead). Total weight 380gr. This past season I had the blessing of a full tag harvest. The deadly setup was the original Firebolts(4" vanes) and 100gr Vortex. (365gr)

I just refletched all my Firebolts with 2"Blazers (right hel) (NEW! E-Z Fletch X-Bolt mini). The total weight with 125gr tip is 380gr.

So far, out to 40yd., the four shot flights are spot on. I have not tried BH and I have not shot at 50yds pin (to finetune speed ring) I have a FFF string and speedring set on 330.
