Post by gundog »

Are the Excal rings up to the job or should a person go to the gun store and up grade?

There are a thousand different ways to spend money and scope rings are no exception. Sure there is always better options but the ones excalibur sells are certainly up to the job. I have never had a problem with any of the excals I have owned.

The Excal ones are good. Light too because they are aluminum.

I think they in most cases would be fine but mine did not last, in the install the screws just strip out.
I know that was a problem and not that common but it happened and could have on any.
I just like steel or the newer Tac ta cool oversized rings.
They are still light and work great, little better metal and mor of it also in the range of 4-6 screws per ring.

I've put together hundreds of these over the years, and while there have been occasional stripouts, once they're on they rarely cause a problem. If you're the kind of person who adjusts or changes your scope a lot, then get better quality ones, but if you're an "assemble and leave it alone" kind of person, then they're fine.

When I put mine on they fit fine, not crazy about aluminum screws, but so far so good. I have a couple other rings on hand from the past, but won't bother these for now.
