I've never owned a compound bow, just a recurve so I can't compare "myself" with the the two unfortunately, only against other compound archers. I have shot my brothers compound bow. But my accuracy with them first few shots was nowhere near my first crossbow group. Although ...It could have been the forearm skin ripped off my arm by the bowstring altering my shots
Its just that after hearing so much about the greater accuracy of the compound, I expected to get an ass kicking by the more experienced compound archers. I'm keen to go the comp again next year now and get some more comparisons over all the target distances. I do agree that freestanding with a crossbow can be less steady compared to the full stretch position of a compound . But just as with using a compound bow well, there is an art to consistant freestanding crossbow shooting too. It does take a lot of practice to be consistant.
