Both are excellent ! You can't go wrong with an Excal.
Both are smooth and easy to cock and very, very accurate.

I'd give an advantage to the Vortex :
- A tad more powerful
- Better polish and finish

I'd personally go for.... an Exocet, which has same specs as a Vortex but I prefer traditional grips than thumbholes stocks.

I remember my first trip into the archery shop . . .I just stood and stared. The only thing I knew was I wanted one.

It would be nice if Excalibur had one of those comparision search tools . . .you could click the box on any two or three and see all the differences side by side.

There are just a few differences in the crossbow itself. All of them are accurate. All will kill a deer.

In the end, it's a matter of personal preference and which one feels the best when held freehand.

Happy shopping and let us know which oe you get.

Welcome!!! :D
As has already been mentioned...you won't go wrong with either one!!!
The vortex is a little stronger/faster. The axiom is a little easier to cock, and easier on serving's. Both are dead nutz accurate!!!
If hunting is all you would use it for I would get the vortex. If you plan on some target / 3d shooting I would get the axiom. Then again you could do like me and buy two!!!!! Lol

You will be fine hunting black bear with the axiom. If you feel that you may hunt moose one day then I would step up to the vortex
my favorite bow is the 200lbs bows like the vortex, my happy place. :D

The axiom is more in my price range but if I spend the extra money maybe I wont second guess weather or not I should have got the vortex instead. Chances are I will have this crossbow for 10+ years anyway. Thanks for all the advice so far. It is appreciated.
Thar be nothing thats walks on this earth that i won't hunt using my Vixen! The faster models just shoot a little faster n flatter!

Welcome to the forum! :)
Either one will seal the deal for you as far as hunting is concerned.
I have a Vortex now and I really, really like it!!

I wrestled with the same decision over the last couple of months and ended up bringing home one of the 200# bows last weekend, mostly because I already own a 175# bow from another manufacturer. I really don't think you can go wrong with either.

Agreed with vixenmaster. You will be fine hunting any animal walking in North America with an Axiom. More than enough power for a passthrough on any NA game, and, with a well placed shot, it won't go far.

Does anyone know the width on the axiom? I want to see what kind of options I have on cases for when I pick her up.
