Attn Turkey Hunters! Wings wanted/needed
Hey folks, it's been a couple years since i had a thread up looking for wings. At one point i had a couple thousand in the garage. Unfortunetly i had a mite go through my feathers and ruined a LOT of them.
I am now in need of all i can get my hands on. I use them for fletching on my recurves and the son's new crossbow.
I can come pick them up whenever you like, or we can meet somewhere.
I am primarily interested in primary feathers, but i will take whole wings if you just wanna cut the wing from the bird.
You can contact me here, through PM or on this thread.
I am located in Tillsonburg, but willing to drive from London to SImcoe-ish to get wings. I might have a buddy in the Kitchener/Waterloo area that you can get together with to drop the feathers off.
SO PLEASE keep ALL those wing feathers you ( and ALL your buddies get) and give me a shout. Thanks Bill

Will tail feathers work for fletching? I don't have any but I am just curious if the straight tail feathers can be maade to work. Gary

Do they have to be perfect? I came across a couple wings yesterday on the floor of my shop, look like they have been there a while..

Nope, they don't have to be perfect. I use the best 6/7" out of the feather.
Tail feathers are too soft to work well for fletching, and they lack the nice oil line that good primaries have in them.

Thanks for all the PM's folks. Yes, i can use the whole wing, but it's not necessary to have the whole thing. If you just wanna cut the feathers off at the base that is great with me. Bill

wondering what kind of price would it cost if someone sent you a few arrows to get fletched by you with turkey feathers ? alos what size fletching do you do , do you do 2 inch and 4 inch ? Thanks Dave.

Dave, i am sure we can work something out. I have 3/4/5" choppers.
I can't sell you feathers because it's illegal to do so in Ontario, but i would be more than willing to grind you some up and fletch them on your shafts. Bill

Thnx Dereck, let all your buddies know as well. I can come once the season is done and gather them all up. PLEASE make sure there is no meat on the wings though, or better yet just cut them( the individual feathers- the long nice primary ones) from the wing with a pair of wire cutters. Right at the base is great. Thanx Bill

Keep me in mind folks when you are cleaning them birds. It's a shame to throw them in the garbage( the wings that is !!) .
