VARIZONE FOGGED, NOW WHAT ?

Post by BOB7255KHZ »

Hey gang.....I must have put my exocet away after hunting season was over and there was moisture on it....and the stock lens caps must have had moisture on /in it too. Now the lens on the Varizone is fogged BAD....Bad enough that I can't see nuttin from it !!!!!!
SOOoooo what should I do? Waiting for some nice sunny warm day to put it outside in hopes it will clear up? Worth a try right? Gotta be moisture in the lens itself, geeeesh. Or is the scope done pufffftttt ?
Thanks for anyyyyyy info.

Hello all,

Fog is merely condensation, which instantly occurs when a lens tube is exposed to a cold temperature after being stored in a warmer place, or vice versa.

To avoid fog and moisture occurring on any type of device using lenses, such as cameras, binoculars or scopes :

When you don't use them :
- Store them in a closed bag, in a dry area. Dispose a couple of Silica gel bags inside. They are those little white bags you often get when you buy electronic stuff. You can order some online for peanuts.Their purpose is to absorb humidity. They are not toxic, but of course don't make tea with them  They can come as a salt or as small pebbles.

Before use :
Get the storage bag outside 24 to 48 hours before you plan to use the camera /scope. Don't open it !
The lenses will progressively adapt to the outdoor temperature and will not fog when you'll use them.

If you have extra bucks, you can spend them in a no fog lotion you can spray on lenses.
If you want to save money, dilute a bit of liquid concentrated dish soap in a spray bottle. Works the same, but be careful of the scent...

Hope it's useful !

I understood the issue to be condensation on the inside of the sealed tube......

please disregard if I read it wrong.

I vaguely remember reading it somewhere that the Excalibur scopes have life time warranty.

You should contact the HO Toll Free: 800-463-1817.
