Newbie

Post by BABore »

I just signed up for this forum and thought I'd say hello. I don't own a crossbow as of yet, but have fired a few. I'm just in the process of selecting one and have pretty much settled on an Excalibur. Having bowhunted and shot competition off and on for the last 25+ years, I know a little about that end. As an mechanical/design engineer I've learned to appreciate the KISS principle. A X-bow with fewer moving parts and not packing high draw weight into a small package appeals to me.

Hope to learn a few things here and not be too much of a pest.

Welcome BABore, this is a great site to learn about a great bow as well as a lot of other topics. Folks here tend to be both helpful and friendly. You're definitely on the right track.

Pretty much decided on the Equinox. I was originally looking hard at the Barnett Predator. Saw alot of comments in regards to high return rate and lack of a good warranty, so I backed off of that thought. I had a flashback to the days I used to shoot in indoor archery leagues. The short, compact Browning Explorer I & II's were all the rage for some. They had a nasty habit of coming apart at full draw and were nicknamed the "Exploder I & II". I always shot a longish 80 lb ProLine with heavy arrows, giving up speed for momentum and brute force. It always worked, so I figured it should also work with a X-bow.
