hey hankenhunter for skinning Deer I use a tin can lid the kind you cut off with a handheld can opener I fold one side of it over for a handle then sharpen the other side on some fine sand paper it works fantastic the curve of the lid is great for skinning and it gets really sharp .
I could buy a nice skinning knife if i wanted but the can lid works so well I see no reason to and I get a kick out of the can lid .

None of my knifes are worth taking a picture of, i lose them constantly (typically to my brother) so no use in spending good money on one.

Anyways I cheat and use golf ball skinning for the majority of it.

Here is a knife I made for a friend a few years ago. It was made from an industrial hacksaw blade like you mentioned.

I am a big fan of Buck knives, I use a Gen 5 skinner and am very pleased with it, holds a nice edge.
I also use and carry (everywhere and always) a very nice assisted opener by a company called Zero tolerance, a gentle tap of the finger and the blade launches out like a gunshot and locks in to place.
A knife is only as good as the steel it is made from, the ZT350 is S30V steel, I use it camping to split firewood, chop down trees and in the end it is still sharp enough to fillet fish. Amazing knife!
Pretty? Nope.
Lifetime warranty, American Made and indestructable liner lock that is every bit as strong as a fixed blade, only faster to deploy.

Thanks Dereck, it is quite a knife, joint effort from Ken Onion and Strider.
