S5 observation......
I recently purchased a S5 for my Exocet 200. I've shot it for about a month now. And while there is a slight improvement in percieved noise/shock, I find that my bow is more accurate without the S5. With the S5 installed the bow is reasonably accurate, without the S5 installed you can't aim at the same spot at 20 yards without destroying an arrow. Does anyone else see there accuracy slightly diminish with the S5 installed?.......
Re: S5 observation......
I've shot my Phoenix with and without the S5 and I haven't noticed any difference in accuracy, still as dead on as ever. I haven't really noticed a whole lot of benefit to the S5 though. There is some noise reduction though.
Re: S5 observation......
Have S5's on our vortex & ibex. We have noticed no change in accuracy, but we did put them on shortly after getting the bows.

Re: S5 observation......
If put on with care, ensuring that both stoppers are fastened equally centered and perpendicular to the string, the S5 should not affect the accuracy. However if the gap between the string and the bumper on the left is slightly different than the gap between the one on the right, it could be enough to affect the accuracy. Aside from not fastening the stoppers equally straight, the difference in gap can also be caused by a slight difference in tiller, or the serving being slight thicker on one side than the other. These are some of the things I've observed and that one should check when mounting the S5.

I have not had a change of accuracy since installing the S5....still driving tacks!

Re: S5 observation......
IMO, the STS (crap) I had on my Exomax, then switching to the S5 as soon as I could, make no noticeable difference in the noise level. I use them simply as dryfire insurance.
A few months back, I whiffed an arrow (string submarined the nock and used the vane to launch the arrow) with a flemish string. I'm positive the string bumpers save the limbs. Good enough reason to use them.

Re: S5 observation......
I had to adjust the scope slightly when I first installed them. But after that it was fine and was just as accurate.

I am glad this thread is here, my s5 is currently in transit from cabelas

Re: S5 observation......
The string actually remains in contact with the arrow past the brace height without an S5 or some other dampening system in place to stop it. However, the string will be slowing down and maybe not in an even manner. String whip can actually cause inconsistancies. The inconsistant transfer of energy is referred to was "dirty energy".
If properly installed, then an S5 system will eliminate most, if not all, of this dirty energy.
Your bow should actually be a little bit more consistant, not less.
I personally like being able to have a lower brace height without the string slapping the riser.
