Re: New Cross bow hunter here
Most the threads i've read on the thunderheads aren't good...good head but most folks can't gettem to fly good out of x-bows. Nothing wrong with a heavy head but it really limit's your choices. Many here (me included) use 100/125gr heads. I shoot 100gr out of my ibex, 125gr out of my vortex.ONESHOT44™ wrote:What do you recommend for broad heads i have used thunderheads for archery but what im reading is heaver the head the better accuracy True?
My broadhead of choice are spitfires...most dependable mechanical head made in my opinion. If you like fixed blades many here use slick tricks. There are many good heads out there, just find what works for you...thats the most important thing.
My vortex set up is...carbon firebolts, 4in duravanes with right helical, 125gr spitfires, excal fff string > 318fps
Hope this helps!

Re: New Cross bow hunter here
Welcome !!
Thunderheads didn`t work for me . Don`t know why because they were great from my vertical .
The X-act are working good for me . I have also seen how well the Boltcutters work too .
I would recommend reading through some of the results people have had with different BH`s . Some for whatever reason don`t fly well from the shorter arrow .

Welcome aboard and congrats on the excal. Your gonna love it.
You'll get a lot of opinions on broadheads. I have used thunderheads from my vertical but couldn't get them to group at all from my crossbow. I'm currently shooting slick tricks (100gr. Mags) with great results to 50 yrds. Have also used the spitfires without fail. I'm wanting to try the new Rage mechs for xbows. Like said before....so many more options with the lighter broadheads.
Good luck, M.J.M.
