hunting over soya beans

Post by gogo »

In our area for about 10 miles or so radius there were corn and soya bean crops. It seemed once the soya was picked the deer were few and far between, we assumed the deer headed for the corn fields. This year there are no corn fields with in 10 miles what do you think the deer will do? Do you think they will forage on the soya spillage or travel to the corn fields miles away.

I think they will go to a food source, whether it,s the scraps of soybean, acorns or browse in the thickets

Deer are creatures of habit so in saying that if all remains the same and there is plenty browse available where they are they will stay there..UNTIL the rut then the bucks are able to be about anywhere lookin for some booty.. :D ..

What I've seen in the past is that when the soy beans
turn brown ready to harvest. The deer tend to be all over
the soy bean that might be covered by shade-green.

If you have that many bean fields you need to do some driving and glassing. On cool sunny days I've seen big bucks bed down in the middle of bean fields. If you drive around and glass the fields you can sometimes spot them. Only their racks will be showing above the beans. Gary
