Re: Crossbow Accident
That's gonna leave a mark!
Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison; And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die. Gen 27:3-4
Re: Crossbow Accident
Recieved a PM from someone who is in the know. As it turns out, the poor guy is paraplegic. Don't know why the paper left that out.

Re: Crossbow Accident
When I saw it on TV news . They said he is a paraplegic and while driving out for medical attention he got stuck .
It was unfortunate he shot his own foot but sad that the TV personnel found it funny he got stuck in a bush .

Yeah I read that the other day & could not understand how he could cock his bow with the bolt on it.

Re: Crossbow Accident
Sounds like a complete idiot, you do not cock or uncock a xbow with a arrow in it, if you do stupid things you will have accidents.
Take time to enjoy each & everyday that GOD has given us- be thankful.

Re: Crossbow Accident
I believe i remember a couple people on here saying they felt the pressure from a broadhead as they started to un-cock their crossbow, but i am like the rest cocking it with an arrow in it.
I am sure my list of "dumbest moments with a crossbow" will start to add more than just aiming at same point without removing previous arrow first.

Re: Crossbow Accident
He might be a nice guy and he might have tried hard to not shoot his foot, but I would definitely prefer to go golfing if he would offer me to go hunting with him ...

Re: Crossbow Accident
My neighbour has an older X-bow, I will not say the name of it. And believe it or not it has an anti dryfire mech in it. Well guess what, ya got to have a bolt in it to un cock the bow or shoot it to release the string. Only saw it the one time I took him out hunting, after which I said to him, buy a new bow or find someone else to hunt with. Have not been out with him since, sad, but I would much rather that then trying to deal with an avoidable incedent in the woods...

Re: Crossbow Accident
I wouldn't be too quick with the name calling! I know when I first started shooting crossbows I use to think "how could anybody dryfire their crossbow?" I don't think that anymore

Re: Crossbow Accident
You are right GP we all make mistakes .
Forget to put an arrow in .
Forget to use the right chevron
Forget to take the arrow out .
Forget the bow while packing up is leaning on the side of the truck . CRUNCH !!!!!
Forget your safety harness
Forget your steps
Forget to hold onto the cocking aid while pulling the trigger .
Forget to keep your fingers or thumb out of the way . (by the way that hurts while keeping your cool with the Boy Scouts )
In total I think we forget more at times than we remember.
