I saw a parade today!!!

Post by new2xbow »

I was beginning to wonder what the occasion was today, because i had the pleasure of watching a parade of deer about 60 yards from my stand.

Literally every time i thought that has to be all of them here would come another group, this lasted about 90 minutes! All total i would say about 30 deer went through.

So sufficed to say i decided i was moving my stand for satrday morning, so i get down carry my stuff back towards the parade grounds and start looking for suitable tree. and what do i see? 2 does about 80 yards out, so i got a stalk on got to about 30 yards started looking for shooting lane in the brush and a different one had gotten downwind and busted me sending them all scattering.

SOOOOO i go back to looking for a tree, find a decent one and go pull my stand and get it reset, as i am climbing up and down looking for shooting lanes and cutting brush and saplings i am sitting in the stand and... wait for it wait for it... 2 does walk across about 30 yards in front of me, and of course you can guess where my bow is..... leaning on my backpack on the ground!!!!!!!!!! So after all that racket it was like they were doing it just to taunt me!!!!!!

How's that for a fun yet frustrating morning?!?!?

Actually I have to say i enjoyed the parade even if it was out of range, saw a couple nice bucks, I have always said i don't hunt for bucks but if'n a big'n walks in a big'n is goin' down, and these 2 both qualify!!!

All in all fun morning even though no meat went in the freezer.

Sounds like you are going to be in the driver's seat on your next hunt. I wouldn't be able to sleap if I were you. Better borough all the bolts and broadheads you can too.

So, you don't happen to have a GPS number for this spot do you? When did you say you were going back?

Just kidding.

I'll give ya the address hehe, this is my brothers fiances property, 100 acres me and him are only hunters and none of the surrounding properties (approx 2000 acres we figured) are hunted except for one that has an occasional bow hunter on it.

These deer have no pressure, hence why property owners standing orderes are, DROP THEM ALL, they are constantly tearing up horse fencing and gardens. One even killed their goat during rut last year!

Wish my brother's wife owned 100 acres of prime hunting close to the house. Afraid to ask how the deer killed the goat. Must have beat it to death with it's front hooves. That would be a good Youtube video.

Actually it gored it, my brother heard a gawd awful racket outside one night when he looked out the goat and a buck were having at it. It wasn't a real bad gore but ended up getting infected. Goat aren't known for cleanliness.

The only thing we could figure is the buck in his testosterone driven state didn't realize he wasn't fighting another buck

Looks like about 14 miles north of Greensboro. My brother lives in Raleigh and deer wander through his neighborhood all the time. His neighbors might take displeasure in seeing what a boltcutter broadhead does though. 8)
