Rubs & Scrapes

Post by deerman »

My White Pine trees that are 5 feet tall have been hit hard with rubs and the scrapes are poping up all over. Just need some rain and then some cold weather and things will come together. Good luck to all; Deerman

Even with the warm weather, I'm starting to find rubs in my area.

I saw quite a few on Saturday when my uncle and I were going back in to get my deer out. I had walked right by them earlier a couple of times, but had either been looking on the ground for blood or was too tired and out of breath to notice them.

Our pre-rut is starting to gear up, so it will be interesting the next few weeks. The bucks are getting ready too! While skinning mine out, I was trying to cut off as much of the heavy layers of fat as I could. The old boy was ROLLING in it!

They leave long-term scars on trees when they rub them like that. Can'l let that happen. Some population control is in order. 8)
