Hawke xb-30 versus Excal Twilight Deluxe scope

Post by mchurch »

Up until this point I have been a loyal Hawke fan. The last Excal scope I owned was a lumizone that I had on a 2007 Equinox. Recently I purchased an Excal Vortex from Danny Miller and put a Twilight Deluxe scope on top of it. I already owned an Equinox with a Hawke Xb-30 scope. I honestly never thought I would part with the Xb-30 scope. After shooting the vortex for awhile I realized that I liked the Twilight Deluxe better than the Xb-30 scope and sold the Xb-30. I now have a Twilight Deluxe on both Excals. For me, I realized that the crosshairs of the Twilight Deluxe were easier to see in low light than the crosshairs of the Xb-30. The Twilight Deluxe scope is a very good scope and a real asset in low light conditions. They are really excellent.

im loving my twilight also. one thing i notice is that the outer edge of the scope is a little wavy. only when i pull my eye back a little i notice it.other than that with the red setting on the lowest setting i could shoot all night long. :D

Was going to buy yours but to slow on the trigger. Glad I waited. I am going for the twilight instead. :D

Cool, I was searching for one thing and stumbled across you guys talking about what I've been debating, the Hawke or the Excalibur for my Equinox.

I nearly bought the Excalibur but stopped when I found the Hawke and was even leaning toward the Hawke after reading up on them both.

After reading the comments on Ex's low light performance over the Hawke, I'm basically sold on Excalibur. But, the 60 yard hair is very appealing to me but not if I can't see it. The Hawke web site shows the cross-hairs to be really nice. (of course) What are your thoughts on the 60 yard hair and both reticules for that matter, not illuminated too? Thanks for letting me pick your brains.

For what its worth I heard through the grapevine that they were having issues with the twilight and I decided to let them work the kinks out first. I bought the XB30 and so far I am pleased. :D
