Good looking buck! That white patch needs to be located in the broiler room and every deer should have one.

Congrats!

Nice looking buck. Congrats!!!

It looks like the hair is missing in that spot on his back. Have you figured out what it was from? I've seen them missing hair between their shoulder blades from the antlers rubbing while they were working licking branches, but that looks too far back.

So when's supper??

I guess he's a piebald. I just talked to my friend and he has some trail cam pics of him from last year when he was only a 5 point. He hunts about a half mile from me. When we skinned him out there were no old wound mark on his back bone area. And nothing wrong with the back straps.

Did he have white hair in the spot or was it missing hair? If it was white hair, then he was a piebald. If there wasn't any hair, it's hard to tell what the issue was if there wasn't any sign of a wound or anything.

It was thick white hair. A little longer than the rest of his coat.

Pretty cool! Congrats on the piebald then. They come in all shapes and sizes. As part of my undergraduate research in college, I worked check stations here in KY weighing and aging deer. I saw 3-4 different piebald deer come in during the time. Several years ago, I had a little buck coming down the hill on me while muzzleloading hunting. He started stepping out and all I could see was his head/neck. Saw the rack and decided not to shoot him since he was too small. Then he stepped on out and I saw his sides.

THat piebald is really neat looking. I passed up a small spike like that about 15 years ago.
I got the video downloaded of my buck, but I couldn't edit it. So I'm posting a link to it here. Now don't anyone laugh when the camera takes a nose dive to the ground!!! :) :) :)

You got a picture of Dr. Death looking in after the camera hits the ground . . .a clear sign of a good shot! :)

Very cool! Did you get the squirrel too?
