I asked Dad to post the picture of the buck that I have been hunting since bow season. We were hunting a 1500 acre block of woods on our lease on Saturday. The wind was blowing about 30-35 mph and we were hunting with the hounds so hearing the dogs was hard.
We were about to break for lunch when Dad saw the buck chasing a doe across a bean field and they were headed to a small swamp the we kill a few deer in every year. Dad called me and told me get on my 4 wheeler and head for the walnut tree and that he was going to turn a couple of hounds out on him.
It wasn't long before I could hear the hounds as they jumped the buck and were headed my way. My heart was about to beat out of my chest when I saw the deer slipping through the pines coming right to me. He stopped at 20 yards but I missed the first shot. He took off and ran right by me but my next shot from my Remington .308 caught him right behind the shoulder and he did a complete flip before he finally went down. Dad showed up about 2 minutes later and the celebration began.
I sure wish that I could have gotten him with my bow but it just didn't work out. I know that Dad could have killed him on 3 different occasions during muzzleloader season but was saving him for me. I'm glad that he did . Thanks for listening.
Congrats on getting your special buck!!! Great that it all worked out for you!
