WOW....CONGRATS to you.... I know the area well. Most people dont know just how hard you would have it there in that area hunting... no crossbow and the drag is a workout, if you can track it at all. again congrats you earned it.

Thanks you all. This buck is an average deer from McDowell. There are some freaking monsters in McDowell and Logan counties. I've seen them, and you don't have to take my word for it. Google it. Don't know about out of state disabled crossbow permits. But I do know that a 170 class buck was killed in WVa with a crossbow last year. In fact it was the biggest scored in 2010 any weapon. I however, can't hunt with a crossbow and it sucks! I personally do not hunt deer with firearms, have not for years. Really don't know why, I just don't. I hunt public land because I can't afford to pay what a lot are willing to pay for a lease. It is really sad what things have become. You use to be able to ask people to let you hunt, well in these parts you got to pay. Hell with that. I buy a license in WVa and Va and hunt the public land. Where I bear hunt you're better off with both anyways, cause the bear might be up a tree on the wrong side of the mountain. Got two deer down, looking forward to getting my Plotts running. Maybe a doe before then if I get lucky again.

Guess my point is, West Virginia has some good entertainment besides Jesco White. The White's are not the only thing Wild and Wonderful about this state. Sorry, that movie kind of pisses me off. There are some hard working good people here. I'm not a redneck, that's not politically correct. I'm an Appalachian American.

Great looking deer. Way to go!
Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars.

You know, if I saw a buck like that I would not know whether to shoot him or throw a saddle on him and ride that hossy! Congratulations

Congrats! What a nice looking buck! That's a beautiful rack. Bet his backstraps were tasty!
Also, hopefully WVA will come to their senses and permit crossbow hunting for everyone. Here in Iowa we have the same BS law... unless you have a disability.

At the taxidermist. Mine is on the right the one on the left was taken today by my best friend with his bow. Close to the same spot I took mine. He thinks his is a better deer. We mess with each other all the time. I was as happy for him as I was when I got mine.

Thanks man. He was broken hearted when the taxidermist said the same. We have known each other our whole lives. Went to boot together and I married his sister. I got a brother and a wife out of that deal. We pull pranks with each other all the time. In fact whenever his mount is done I'm going to go pick it up for him, as a gift. Only the buck I bring to his house will be a little buck that didn't get picked up two or three years ago. LMAO. The taxidermy shop is good with this as well and is going to play along. Should be able to keep it going for a few weeks. Everyone has had deer suffer from ground shrinkage, he is going to have one suffer taxidermy shrinkage.Dereck wrote:
