Nice post also.
Thank you! I'm feel lucky he came my way!
Their is a old saying it is not the size of your parcel it is how you use it that counts.
But this is most often heard from people with small parcels
 I figured it was only a matter of time before someone took it this direction. Apparently it's true.

Thanks for the chuckle!

Nice buck. Small acreage is great as long as it backs up into more land. This is the third year in a row I've killed a buck off my friends 10 acres.

Thanks for all the congrats and encouragement! Shooting this big guy was quite an accomplishment for me and it meant a lot to relay the story to my fellow crossbow hunters.

Happy Hunting!

Congrats! He's a nice one, especially for a first buck! My first was a basket-racked 6 with a rifle, and a small 4 pt with a bow. As with so many other things in life, you'll always remember the first.

As for the small parcels or land areas, size doesn't matter.  As others have said, all you need really is enough room to stand and take a shot. This could be as small as a 1/4 acre if it's in the right spot. We've got 2 tracts down on the farm, one is 100 acres the other is 68 acres. I mainly hunt the 68 acres, but of that, I've got 1 little natural blind that do the vast majority of my hunting out of. I can shoot about 50 yds in any direction and that's what I hunt.

As for the food, as others have said, corn is a good one to plant. Make sure you plant quite a bit though, otherwise the coons will tear it all down before the deer get to it. You can never go wrong with just regular white clover either.

Thanks a lot, Big58cal. I'm the first hunter in my family for a number of generations and this felt like a big rite of passage. I hope to share the hunting experience with my kids and grand kids. Thanks for sharing about your first bucks, too! :)

How much corn is enough corn? 1/2 acre? 1/4 acre?
