Excalibur Bolt Cutter Broadhead

Post by Crossbow225lb »

Does any one have an entry and exit wound pic using the bolt cutter?

Thanks

I don't. The 150 gr stuff was developed to go w/ Firebolts. Excal has a history of doing vast amts of testing prior to intro'ing new products.

My guess is BC bheads will leave stuff 'graveyard dead'.

I'm just curious as to how it looks because I want to see the damage. I don't have alot property for the deer to run. And to compare the hole to a slick trick.

Thanks

I have a Slick trick pic! This was a 20 yd shot on a 1000 lb buff. Bow was Y-25, 440 gr arrow total tipped w/ 100 gr ST mag, Boo string, about 295 fps.

Notice the huge offside rib cut in half. Bhead was sticking out of the animal 3" or so.

I shoot Gt's w/ brass inserts, so Boltcutters at 150 gr came about after my equip choices were made.

This is a boltcutter exit hole on a 15 yard shot. Entrance hole was basically the same. Picture wasn't very good. BC's slice and dice. Fly the same as the 150g field points. I like them for a fixed head and NAP Spitfires for mechanical heads. Both have been consistent for me.

Here's what it looks like when you hit a bunch of crap and the arrow gets knocked high and goes across the shoulder blades. This was with the Boltcutters.

wabi made a post sometime back about killing a deer w/ expandible that didn't open. It was a heart shot.
For all practical purposes, it could have been a field point. Classic case of 'not the arrow, but the Indian'

Doing your homework is one thing, finding razor blades that hit where you aim is another. Find the latter and go kill deer. There is no perfect combo, there's scads of them, imho.....................

Excal has a history. They really put new stuff through the wringer, I wouldn't be amazed if Boltcutters and Firebolts were a few years in the making.

Every one new here has done the same as you are now, so no problemo.

My best advice: Get something to group, then something to stand still, lol.

Im curious as to what the furrle is made out of on the slick trick and the Bolt cutter? are they pretty tough, so I could re-use them with new blades?

Thanks
