Installing dissipator bars?
Just bought an Excalibur Axiom and absolutely love it. I just got the dissipator bars but there are no instructions on how to install it. Does it need to be unstrung before the bars are installed? (my guess would be yes, but would rather be sure). Tried calling Excalibur but got voicemail and no return call yet. Thanks a ton!
Re: Installing dissipator bars?
I happened to do this tonight on my Axiom. You unstring the bow, undo the large screws holding the limbs and the four smaller ones holding the restraining bars. Then you take the large screws out of the limbs and separate them from the thick surrounding washers. Using the thin plastic washers that used to sit under the thick conical washers you make a sandwich of thin washer/dissipator bar/large screw and re-attach the limbs. Do get them on the right side! When unstrung the tips should point forward. Tighten the main screws , but not all the way, then re-attach the restraining bars with the four new, longer, screws (they have to contain the dissipator bars, so must be longer than the originals). Tighten the main limb screws all the way, then the four restraining bar screws. Restring the bow, and then cock it. Put the safety on and place the two rubber pads and attach them to the dissipator bars with two small screws on each side. Safety off and uncock the bow in the normal fashion. Finally, check everything is tight.

If it's not too late I would return the dissipating bars and put in a little extra and get the S5 stoppers.
I have a Phoenix and took the D bars off and put the S5 on
Much better set up IMO

Re: Installing dissipator bars?
Thanks for all the replies guys. When asking the question I didn't have the tool to remove the string, went out and bought one, removed the string and installed the d-bars. Also, I wanted to comment, Excalibur did email me back quite quickly with instructions on how to do it. Great customer service.
I was going to purchase the S5, however I put it down on my x-mas list to my wife, and I don't want to go out and buy everything on my list on her!! To those of you who removed your d-bars, why?

That's what I was thinking!! After shooting with the d-bars on, you can definitely feel and hear a difference. I'm not saying it's whisper quiet, but it made a difference in vibration and noise.Crossbow225lb wrote:I'm gonna have both

The S5 do everything the Dbars do and more
I reserve my string when I it shows the claw marks on both sides. A little less weight and not having to take the pads off when I take the string off it .
That's why I took mine off
