Private or Public

Re: Private or Public
I've gotten 3 deer so far this year, a 12 pt with the Equinox, a button buck with a .45 Colt carbine, and a doe with a .54 cal muzzleloader. All have been off of private land.
There's a big chunk of public land here by the house and some more down by where I hunt at, but I don't hunt it. There's several reasons for it though. First, I'm lucky enough to have private land to hunt. Others aren't so lucky and rely on public land. Since I've got the private land, there's no need for me to add another body to the already busy public land. The other reasons have to do with the amount of hunting pressure and I can't use a 4 wheeler to get up into it or get a deer out. Yeah, I'll admit it, I'm lazy. But I have the privilage to be.

Re: Private or Public
Since 2005 i have hunting just private land. I hardly ever hunt all parts of it because i usually take the amount of deer i want close to the cabin. Or in case of those in Ark. close to her barn to easely hang them up.

Re: Private or Public
Not a lot of public here in Texas. We lease a place(1100 acres) among seven guys.We all kind of horn hunt,so we dont kill lots of numbers, but we do kill a fair one every once in a while. I got trail cam pics of a GREAT 10 pt. early in the year and havent been able to pull the trigger on anything else. So I'm 0 fer on deer. We have had an incredible increase in the number of pigs tho and as a lease we've gotten 29!!! Our "Deer" lease has turned into a "Pig" lease. Oh well its fun to pull the trigger on something.

Small 8pt with Excal on public land, VA. Large 8pt with vertical bow on public land, WVa. Spike with a rifle on private land, VA Both bear were taken on public land; the bigger one in WVa, smaller one in VA. I have deer tags left and would like one or two more. Late archery will fill those, I hope.
