missed.

Post by michaelrbauer »

I have a problem with my Vortex that cost me a deer on Christmas eve.
I have known about this since the beginning of season but thought that I would wait till it was over before I would fix it. the work around allowed me to get a nice buck in Oct.
Here is the problem. If the crossbow is loaded and ready to fire all is well if I release the safety, however if I get excited and pull the trigger before I release the safety all appears well as nothing happens. BUT when I release the safety the crossbow fires even with my finger off of the trigger. Will get it fixed in a couple of weeks when season is over.
Just a heads up. You may want to cock and load an arrow into your crossbow and with the safety on pull the trigger and than with the bow pointed in a safe direction and your finger off of the trigger release the safety. If all is well nothing will happen.

Whoa! Scary stuff! Mine doesn't do that, but, it does require more to release safety if I squeeze trigger first. I've read on here that some do it on purpose to take slack out of the trigger.

Seems to me I have read somewhere that this will happen if the trigger adjustment screw has backed out too far.
I adjusted my trigger pull a little but have not encountered that problem.

I have not changed any settings. It was like this from factory.

BTW, it could be possible that the screw backed out on it's own.
That screw is located with the head in a downward position and vibration may cause it to come loose.

[Procrastination sucks!] is right.
Any dealer should be able to fix this on the spot!

That's scary! I'd get that fixed up before I used it again. Could be an accident waiting to happen.

There is no adjustment screw. Do not cock this bow again until your issue is corrected.

Had something happen to me like that. Was playing with saftey in tree stand and bow went off. Jammed bow into treestand and broke the scope. Mine was a older wolverine. Said some of the older bows get woren triggers. Excalipur fixed it and had it back to me in two days. Get-r-ixed before some bad accident happens. You may end up sorry you didn't.
