blazer 1.75" vanes..........

Post by bob1961 »

looking to get my arrow shaft componets and seen these Bohning 1.75" Shield "X" Vane at .40" high where the 2" are .60" high....my thought is positive channel clearence over the 2" blazers....but i'm not sure if the 1/4" less length will hurt, i mean a 1/4" isn't that much or is it on a vanes with slicl tricks....plus i'll save a little weight on the rear of my arrows as well, 2" are 6gr each and the 1.75" are 3.5gr yet shaving 7.5gr off rear of arrow....there only 12 bucks a 100 but don't want to lose any flight my arrows have with 2" blazers....i'll have a close up look at my rail channel and vanes 2" i have now for any rub marks....just short of trimming the 2" to clear the channel which i did do to see if there were any difference which i couldn't see anything, thx guys  .........bob

Move them back on the shaft as far as you can, you shouldn't have any flight or clearence what so ever.

you run into the trigger block if too far back on shaft....i had the guy at pro shop mount my 2" blazers 1" from end of shaft where 3/4" was touching the block....but my main thought i need answered is the shorter vane by that 1/4" will do.....bob

I use 3 or 4'' shield cut feathers and they are 3/4'' from rear of shaft, I also cut scope mount for clearence, I've never had any probs with this set up be it vanes, blazers or feathers, maybe do a little testing :)

I'm gonna check that out youngbuck. I shoot the 3" Fusion vanes now and like them very much. I'd like to try the Zeons and see how I like them. Do you shoot them from a crossbow or a compound? Just wondering how well they'll fit in the rail channel. :)
