String Upgrade question

Post by EJ45 »

I have been shooting my Vortex with the factory Excal string for a bit and am pretty pleased with it. My question is how much of a "gain" will it be to put the flemish string on? I dont expect it to be night and day and Im sure I could hunt with the supplied string.

I guess what Im wanting is you folks with experience to tell me why Id benifit from the swap (I prob wouldnt need much convincing)

Thanks!

I assume your talking about the excalibur super flemish and excel strings not a Boo string. If your talking about performance theres not much in it. The performance difference is strings comes mostly in the materials and strand count rather than just the string style itself. Both excal strings are made of dacron in this case. So a lot comes down to personal taste.
I prefer the flemish for looks. Flemish are also far stronger on the end loops as you have double the strand count due to construction style. I've also seen the flemish survive dryfires with no visible damage, whereas I've seen 2 excells spread the serving on the loops. Otherwise there's not much in it really. Its a different story if your looking at getting a handmade string from a quality material though.

Thanks for the reply! Yes I meant the Excal flemish string. I may get it if for no for no other reason than an upgrade from the original.

My factory Flemish string uses the 20 yard crosshair at 30 yards while the original string is dead on at 20 yards with the same crosshair. I would say I am picking up about 20 or so FPS with the Flemish string.
