Aluminum Arrow Sizes

Post by Trapman »

It seems I read a lot about 2219's being used for arrows for crossbows. As a recent crossbow convert I have tons of aluminum arrows of various sizes that I could cut down to use in my phoenix that I have for my compound.

Any info as to suitability of sizes other then 2219 for my phoenix? :?:

Thanks.

I shoot 2117 out of my Pheonix and also out of the wifes Vixen. They shoot great.

Main concern is outside diameter.
21** & 22** series will work fine and you can use point inserts for flat nocks.

I've shot 2213, 2215, 2216 & 2219 out of my Excals, and presently use 2215s for hunting. The 2213s will bend more easily and the 2219s are most durable.
My "tip" is, "Be very careful in removing them from targets, and they will last a long time."

When I stopped shooting my "vertical" bow in 3D, I was shooting 2312's.... a.k.a. "Line Cutters". Got a good stock of them, but they may be just a tad big and too thin-walled to shoot out of the Equinox. :(
