Finally joined the ranks

Post by colder13 »

Well, finally bought my Excalibur. Picked up the Phoenix today from Le Baron in Mississauga. They are having their May 15% off sale (bought a membership for $25).

I also picked up wax, stringing aid and a 28x28 hurricane target. Just need to buy a case now. How are take rifle/shotgun take down cases? Is there anything else I should make sure I have before taking it out to target shoot?

Congratulations!
How about a scope, stringing aid, S5, extra string, rope cocker, arrows, broadheads, broadhead target, and thumb and dry-fire protector?

You won't regret it. It's one of the few purchases I've made in my life that give me a warm fuzzy fealing every time I think about it.

I still don't have a case. Just hang it on a nail in the gun closet and put it in the truck seat when taking it out.

I got a bolt puller because they go so deep in the targets.

Thanks, Boo.

It came with the Varizone along with the rest of the lite stuff package. I am looking at the S5, but figured that could wait, and I am going to grab broadheads and an extra string (sorry, don't yet qualify for a Boo String).

Are the thumb and dry fire protectors recommended? Is there a reliable site I can investigate them on?

I know I won't regret it, Rayman.

I thought we needed to have them cased while travelling up here in Canuckistan.

I did think about the arrow puller.

I was just kidding you Colder, you have those two already. They are between your ears. I know it sounds simplistic but just don't ruin your day with a dry-fire or smacking your thumb. Don't let anyone interrupt your sequence of loading and shooting. Not even a mosquito bite!

I know they do make them for other brands...wasn't sure if they made them for Excals...don't think I would want one anyways...they would look less awesome with them on.

As for what's between my ears...let's not make any assumptions either way

Where I am, i know you're supposed to have firearms in a case while traveling but don't know about xbows and other stuff. Got pulled over and had my pistol on the dash once. The deputy called for backup on the radio and they searched my truck for drugs and questioned me for about an hour. :x

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new Excal. Happy hunting and safe shooting. :)
