MCF 3D Shoot & Fundraiser - Photos added!

Post by VixChix »

Just a sample of some of the amazing items to be raffled, auctioned, and door-prized (is that a word?):

YES! That is a GHOST BLIND in the foreground and an Ameristep hub blind in the background, with xbows, Buck knives and other wonderful items in between:

Wonderful assortment of raffle prizes to chose from for any hunter, archer, or supporter:
LumenArrows, releases, Rem. choke tubes, .870 stock kit, rattle boxes, scent products (and de-scent products!), hands-free grunt tubes, hats, shirts, slings, ... and much much more!

Even if you can't make the 3D shoot today, come for the all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner (Thetford Community Centre), support the MCF, win some of the awesome prizes, ..... AND BEST OF ALL: meet Laura & Dave! :D

It was a great shoot today! Ed's Archery has done an awesome job setting the course up. Met some wonderful people today too. It was a hot one and we're back at the motel getting showered and changed before the dinner tonight. We'll have pics up soon!

Getting late and we're pretty beat so I'll post the link to my facebook album here - you don't need to be on facebook to view it.

I'll add "real" photos here tomorrow! :D

From the first part of the day - the 3D shoot at Ed's Archery:

Terry,( a.k.a. turkeylips), one of our favorite 3D competitors, drove down to support the cause. He shot the course with us.

Playing follow the leader:

It was a super warm day so this stop part way through the course was a very welcome sight!
Image

Ed's Archery runs a 15 target course, which is actually 30 shots - each target offers 2 presentations using ground shots and stand shot. Here is a "two-fer":
Image

A typical stand/ground set-up - great way to make the most of each station:
Image

Shooting each target twice but from different angles makes for some interesting arrow clusters - and you can even robinhood your own arrow if you try hard enough!
Image

We got a kick out of this target - haven't shot one like this before!
Image

The MCFs fearless leader - our forum's very own Laura! I am immensely proud to know this wonderful woman. She & her husband Dave did an amazing job of this big event!
Image

Ed's Archery hosted the 3D shoot and was a major partner in the event!

Just had to share this ad... need a haircut? need a gun?

Many xbow reps!

What an great honour to meet Dan Hendricks (DJH) of Horizontal Bowhunter Magazine & UFFDA http://www.horizontalbowhunter.com/ and Brad Whiting (see4miles) of Crossbow Magazine http://www.crossbowmagazine.com/ - these guys are the real deal! Down to earth, very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Wish I had a couple of weeks just to pick their brains and listen to their adventures. I also need to mention Dan's wife Karen - what a lady! All the best qualities in a woman hunter.

The dinner and raffle:

Laura's speech - thanking the sponsors, the participants, and explaining what the Michigan Crossbow Federation does:

Image
Image

Terry (turkeylips) and the first round of tickets - we were just getting started:
Image

The food for both the 3D shoot and the dinner was AMAZING! Folks - its worth attending the event just for that alone!
Image

Laura and Dave working - what a team!
Image

Mike Avery http://www.mikeaveryoutdoors.com/ was super-personable and an awesome MC. Ben was one of the lucky youngsters he recruited to help with the raffle drawings. (Ben was so happy to be able to wear my new pink Bohning hat! :D )
Image

Terry chatting with Senator John Gleason. Senator John was a treat to meet as well! Great sense of humour and a supporter of the MCF.
Image

Jeff Procter of Proc's Huntin' Buddies http://www.procshuntinbuddy.com/ - what fun it was to meet this gentleman and his "buddy"! :D Jeff's got personality plus and we enjoyed chatting with him at the shoot and at dinner. He donated one of his Huntin' Buddies to the raffle and we were the lucky winners!
Image

If you want to win you have to buy tickets! Terry and I were interested in some of the same items, so every time we'd buy tickets, Terry had to buy more too... and when Terry bought more, we'd have to buy more! Between us we had a serious pile of tickets...
Image

We lucked out on a number of awesome raffle prizes!
Image

Saying our good-byes to Laura and Dave:
Image

A parting shot.... Dave and Dan Hendricks.
Image

What a great time we had! The shoot and the dinner were wonderful, but the PEOPLE we got to meet and hang out with were the icing on the cake! There were so many more that I didn't manage to get photos of. NEXT TIME!

I really hope this event is the first of many successful annual MCF fundraisers. Thanks Laura!!!!!

Thanks for the pictures, vixchix. I was really hoping to make this event. I got tied up on a hunt in Ohio, though.

Miss Laura looks so busy she has two pair of glasses on her head and she probably can't find either one.
