Another shout out for Mr. DaGriz

Post by Pydpiper »

My sons Birthday requests were simple as always, he wanted a quality watch, and a quality knife. Pretty reasonable for a young man turning 10.
I went to Darrel for advice, time was short and Darrel was very accommodating and understanding. My son is a fisherman, and loves to hunt, so after a few emails back and forth we had decided on a beautiful little Damascus knife he Called a Bird and Trout knife, my son was part of the decision process so it was no surprise what was coming down the pipes. The picture that Darrel sent me quickly became the wallpaper on my phone, and the the post office waiting game began..
Today I got the call from the wife, it was there, waiting at home. Of course I dropped all my work and shot right home to have a glance, ignoring all temptation to pick my son up at school to present it to him.
Darrel, I have to say you have a very good eye for quality, and I also have to tell you that this knife will be treasured by my little man, he understands the work that people like you put in to things like this, and it shows in every contour, it is no mystery to tell when a mans heart goes in to his work.
I errored in my PayPal payment and you ended up with an extra $10 in charges, I held off on sending that money so we could enclose a little note to make sure you understand that there are many of us who appreciate exactly what it is people like you contribute to this world.
Thanks Man.

Thanks for the kudos and kind words.
I am happy I was able to make a young man's birthday a day he will remember for quite a while.

Makes my heart smile when a customer is pleased with one of my knives.

Beautiful and happy birthday to your young man. I often hear city gals gawk over a kid having a knife, I always say a 5 yr old should know how to help peel potatoes and have their own pocket knife

Thanks everyone, it is a big hit here at home! Only problem is that I want one now, so does the wife.
It is a hard item to set down. The wood has "depth", something I have never seen before, it is almost 3D. Can't tell from the picture, but as you turn the knife the lines in the handle change shape, color and depth. Almost like it is made from glass.
When DaGrizz says the pictures don't do his knives justice, it means exactly that.

It's not the first time he has helped me, my snowshoe bindings came from him at no cost and are like nothing I have seen before. He has also helped me solve a raccoon problem that had me stumped for the first time in my many, many years as a nuisance wildlife trapper.
Still grinning like an idiot over here.

That sure is a sweet little knife there. I'd be grinnin' like an idiot too. :D

Went north to do some building, he slipped out in the early hours of the Ontario bass opener, came home with 2 fillets.. Ate them for lunch.
He was itching to get the knife dirty, watching him cleaning his Bass on opening morning was worth it. The knife was new for almost 48 hours.
