Re: Arrow wraps
just re-fletched my arrows and used wraps. after awhile they will get scratched up, no big deal... as far as accuracy, no problems.

Just a teeny bit (technical measurement term).Bullzeye wrote:Are wraps heavier than just gluing vanes on??

I also find I have to run my finger nail down the rail from time to time to clean the "wrap residue" off - but it's worth it for the pretty pink wraps!

A lot of guys shoot pink - it's one of the best colours to find your arrows in the woods, especially in fall.Movingmd wrote:I don't think I'm going pink! Going orange tiger wrap!

Re: Arrow wraps
Love "PANK" - if for no other reason than to turn macho heads - but florescent red and lime glow in the dark under black light. Wraps are look nice - initially - but soon get dinged by rail, etc. Are also more trouble to reflech, e.g. cant fix just one vane, and a PITA to strip. Added weight to back of arrow lowers FOC. But whatever turns your crank. Used to crest vanes with lacquer too, quick and easy but much of the same downsides. Now, pretty is as pretty does.

Re: Arrow wraps
X2 on the cresting, believe the average weight of wraps is 10 gr, but that's not my complaint w/ them, it's their removal time.
Cresting, you just take an acetone soaked rag and voila, clean shafts for the most part...........

Re: Arrow wraps
I'd go with wraps before cresting. IMO anyway.
Just like the others, only an opinion. Do as you want with "YOUR" arrows. Once you get good at wraps and stripping, as well as repair of Fletching, you get fast.
I can safely say I can strip, clean, and re-wrap in 3 minutes. I've shown this to more than a few on here. You can not do that with cresting. Maybe strip. But not recrest, and ready to fletch immediately.
Top that boys!

And I'm not saying that just to promote wraps. I do just as many without wraps, and different fletchings.
And one more thing, wraps have a superb fletch glue adhesion quality.

Re: Arrow wraps
Arrow wrapping can also be performed as arrow cresting. This type of cresting involves wrapping fabric, string or sinew onto the arrow after adhesive has been applied to the shaft. Note that this form of cresting will add weight to the arrow shaft, which will cause a change in velocity and flight.
