Question four you...

Post by TimBerrich »

Where i hunt, i have about a 1000 yard walk thru some nasty stuff( swamp, hills, revines) I am a CORN pile hunter and i cant use my quad anymore. Do any of you have a way to carry corn other than buckets.I go thru about 100 pounds a week and more during the Rut.I have done it the hard way (not baiting and i get it done its just harder and i see less deer)

Thank you
Tim

A friend of mine throws a bag onto a plastic/polyethylene toboggan.

Take a young kid hunting and mentor him on deer hunting. In exchange I'm sure he will gladly move the corn for you. Your friendship will certainly reward you when getting a deer out.

Deer carts make transport of everything much easier.
During snow cover I switch to a plastic toboggan.

My walk in is very wet and lots of mud. So I have to carry it in

I have a very large back pack that i use on days for baiting. I can get 5 or 6 plastic bags of corn in there
maybe 30 lbs or more

On days I hunt , because i don't take a lot of stuff
with me ,I have room for a couple of bags in my hunting back pack

A dolly with bike style wheels will do the trick, you must be hunting on private land, I know there's some monster bucks in Frederick Co. good luck

Last year I was my own pack mule and carried 50 lbs at a time in a duffle bag with a shoulder strap over my shoulder. Usually once a week and just a bit over a kilometre back to my feeders. Once we had a bit of snow I used my ice fishing tobogan. Good thing I'm a big fella!! :D

we dont get that luxury here in ga..you hunt over corn you go to jail..i wish they would relax that a bit..
the way its written you cant be within 200yards and you cant see it.
so if some jerk decides to illegaly bait and you dont know it you could be too close and get the same treatment as if you did it..its happened..
anyway i got off subject ..im with Norm ,take a youth..

Strum,

I think its ridiculous as well. Especially since they legalized it last year for the southern zone, which works out good for me. :D

i bet if you cut your amount in half and scatter it better in thick brush and briars so they gotta work harder youll see the same amount of deer. when i use to haul corn i used a army duffle bag with the arm straps but that was many moons ago.the price of corn these days is crazy.
