It is our first encounter with it this year in sw MI . Three weeks ago we thought it was bad ,but it just keeps getting worse! Neighber walked our hunting area last weekend ,counted 86 dead, no tracks,no live ones.SCARY part is coyotes haven'touched any of them. I normally share my garden with sevral deer ,now down to one. DNR says a hard frost is only way to stop it.

I see Ross County is on the infected list for your state.
Yup EHD also knowed as Blue Tongue is terrible but it happens with droughts. They gather at waterin spots & it starts, had it over in Tn. 05 around Drummonds when i lived there. It happens often in Ms where i be from.

Blue tongue is a form of this, but no cases of that here this is a different strain of the same illness
EHD has NEVER been found in Ontario. We do not have the right variety of midges that carry the virus. It's not to say that the variety of midges won't evenually cross the great lakes but they aren't here as of right now. In some parts of Ontario we've already had a frost and after a few frosts the danger is past.
We've been lucky in KY this year. I've not really heard of many cases so far. A few years ago we were decimated by it though. Between the KDFWR mismanaging the county I was in and the EHD, the next year I saw 1 deer all year up to gun season in November and I shot it (a small buck).
